A photo taken just after a ridiculous scale up a cactus mountain, and just before a drunken slumber in nature. Adam Stokowski shot.
The Catalina Island Classic was superb, to say the least. Resource Distribution (Paris, Riviera, Divine, and Elephant) put some serious work into this event and it paid off leaps and bounds. Some of the best downhill skateboarders in the world, partying and racing on an island off of Southern California all weekend. Sector had a sweet house at the finish line of the race that I frequented, but I opted to go au naturale and camp in the woods with Daner and Adam. Beautiful morning views, sun, dollar tacos, golf carts, refreshing dips in the ocean, and racing with the homies was incredible. The ladies absolutely ripped up that technical course. Tamara Prader snagged the gold, Christin Gregersen placed 2nd, and Pam Diaz placed 3rd. Sara Paulshock and Daisy Johannes tore it up too on the island. Sara’s leathers are too bright for me to even look at, it’s so obnoxious and awesome. Daisy borrowed Carly Richardson’s and Pam borrowed the suit of Mr. Liam Greasy Morgan. What a hoot. It was super nice to get some real face time in with these betties. (Pam, get up here to Malibu!)
Trying to heal up my ankle nicely. My first big slam into a hay bale left me with a gnarly sprain or ligament stretch or something. I raced on it because I didn’t have enough self control to sit out on my first race. Literally ate hay all day. I had no strength left in my ankle whatsoever by the end of the day, straight up collapsing after my coleman past the finish line every time - but I was so fucking happy. I can’t wait for this season.
Oh shit, it’s my bed time. I’m an old fart ever since I started baking cookies at sunrise.
